The V5 Comes On Home

Max Dumesny and the Valvoline / GKR Transport team are in very familiar territory this weekend as the #5 Maxim contests two of the blue ribbon events on the summer calendar in three days.
Tonight’s Kings Challenge in Mt. Gambier and of course the event that goes hand in hand with a Dumesny appearance – the Warrnambool Classic.
Max comes into both events with good form from the last couple of weeks in particular, including that sensational two wide, wheel to wheel battle with son Mitchell in the last fifteen laps of the World Series Sprintcars final.
Warrnambool is naturally a special place for Max.
“This (PCR) is my home track, Dad’s is Warrnambool,” quipped the always witty Mitchell Dumesny at PCR last weekend.
How right he is.
This weekend the Mouse Green spannered, Brendan Telfer and Freddy Baker crewed #5 will be an ominous dark horse for Classic glory.
“We’re due,” says Max, “but then again I think we’re always due. It’s a tough field like it always is but the Classic is the kind of thing where amazing things happen. I hope we’re one of those amazing things in 2009.”
Max Dumesny and Warrnambool; they just go together don’t they?
