Third Won’t Do For Dumesny

Max Dumesny’s current third placing in the 2008/2009 World Series Sprintcars Championship is understandably not a position he’s keen to maintain as the last few rounds of the series take the Valvoline / GKR Transport team to Queensland and back to Sydney in the next two weeks.
He wants second at least!
Tomorrow night (Wednesday) Dumesny picks up where the rained out first round at this venue took off before a double header on the Friday and Saturday night at the same venue.
“The last week of the series has traditionally been a very busy period for World Series,” explains Dumesny, “so this is nothing really new.”
With three of the last four rounds of the 2008/2009 competition Dumesny knows that running down series leader Brooke Tatnell will be a tall ask, but anything can and will happen in Sprintcar racing.
“He’s (Brooke) having a very good run,” Max concedes, “we’ll have to attack Archerfield and Toowoomba with some good speed and some good luck if we’re to stay in contention.”
The tight nature of Archerfield means that anything can happen, something that is hardly lost on the wily Victorian born Nelson domiciled multiple WSS champ.
The venue has been the scene of great Dumesny triumphs and some bone jarring wrecks.
Toowoomba remains as the wild card Sunday affair where any discussion of a home circuit advantage for the Queenslanders is quickly dismissed.
“We have four nights of racing ahead of us in Queensland and then the decider at Parramatta the weekend after,” says Dumesny, “so right now we have to take each night as it comes and work on making second place in the series a reality. And knowing Robbie (Farr), he’s going to make us work for it.”
