Max To Haul At Hobart

Max Dumesny hasn’t been the luckiest driver so far in the Wanless World Series Sprintcars Championship for 08/09 but that hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm nor has it been cause to push the panic button. In fact it’s unlikely Dumesny even knows where the panic button is. With the next round of WSS being held this Saturday night in Hobart Dumesny’s in a typically upbeat frame of mind and confident of a strong showing. He’s playing down the disappointment at Speedway City last weekend and focusing on what lies immediately ahead. “We were unlucky in Adelaide, that’s all there is to it,” says the laid back multiple Australian and WSS champion, “we were right where we needed to be and I could feel the car coming on right where we’d planned when the yellow lights came on. Unfortunately we developed a slowly deflating tyre at the same time and it made the car just awful to drive after that. Up until that point I could really feel the race coming to us.” Tasmania has been a happy hunting ground for the Valvoline / GKR Transport Maxim in the past and there’s no reason why this weekend would or should be any different. A veteran of WSS competition the Victorian born Nelson based father of four knows only too well that World Series competition is divided into two distinct halves – before Christmas and AFTER Christmas. Anyone who believes that the two are the same simply hasn’t been paying attention. “The racing before Christmas is important, like any round of World Series, but things definitely can make or break your Championship when Speedweek kicks in.” For the time being though, Max never looks beyond the next round. Consequently, the aim is to haul the freight in Hobart and gain some valuable points… Ends release.
